Application Form

Greetings! Thank you so much for your interest in the Roleplay Haven Moderator Program. Please read the following carefully before proceeding:

1) Moderator candidates must be well respected individuals on the forums. You must be active and have a good standing with the other members of this site.

2) They must be people who help others with problems, promote and sustain our communities by posting good, intelligent posts. They are NOT people who start fights, trouble, or anything else of the sort.

3) These are people who are usually at a steady "Calm" and don't bounce from highs to lows on the forum (moody).

4) They demonstrate that they can take flames, deal with others in a respectful manner, be objective and in general, promote a friendlier atmosphere on the community. When they post, they post something worth while.

5) They adhere to the forum rules - what might be borderline in a regular poster is in NO way appropriate for a moderator. They can be held to the "higher standard" expected from moderators.

6) They are respectful of everyone and they make themselves look like they're proper and worthwhile of attention and time.

7) Work well and professionally in a team.

8 ) Contribute AT LEAST 8 hours/week in moderating time. Busier boards will require more time invested. Please carefully consider if you have the time necessary for the board you are applying for.

9) Lastly and very importantly, Moderator candidates are also expected to be able to show Customer Service skills and common sense in dealing with people in a professional manner.

If you think that you have demonstrated these skills on the boards and wish to apply for the position of moderator, you may copy fill out the following form. The form should be copied into a NEW TOPIC in this thread. Please... only serious canidates apply.

We understand that you may not be familiar with the moderator policies and procedures, but please respond to the scenario questions as though you were a moderator, using your best judgment. We are primarily looking at the quality of the response, rather than a specific right/wrong answer.

Look guys. I know that this application is long and that it seems a little over the top for this site. But please. Ralize that I'm doing it for the good of the users. I do work a full time job and raise a family by my self. I don't have all the time in the world to sit here and babysit everyone. I need a few people to do that part for me ^_^. So come on... Let's go?

Which games/servers do you play on? (Some boards require moderators to play on that server, others prohibit moderators from modding on a server on which they play.):

Board applying for:

Why do you want to be a moderator?:

What do you think you would contribute to the moderating team? What qualities and skills do you offer?:

Have you ever disagreed with a moderator's action? If so, what would you have done as a moderator in that situation?:

What hours do you generally post (Central time)?:

What is your background in roleplaying?:

What kind of experiences, if any, did you have while working in a team environment?:

Name one thing about the boards that you think needs improvement:

Have you ever moderated a board system or chat arena before? If so, please describe your experience:

Please describe how you view your posting style on the RH Boards:

Would you prefer to mod a board that matches where you play in game?Why/why not?

If you were a mod on your current board would any of your ingame activies disrupt the board or upset the posters? AKA would there be people upset that you were made a mod?

You're browsing a couple of other RH boards in your spare time, and you come across a board that doesn't seem to have any moderator. There are not a whole lot of posts, but it seems to be a very close community, and there are a lot of minor violations in the messages you look at. What do you do?:

There was a major violation on this board, and you have to ban someone. The board explodes into a riot - constant major violations, with numerous evade accounts being created to cause problems on the board. How do you handle that?:

You have banned someone, but another moderator disagrees with your decision and lifts the ban before the ban time you have set has elapsed. What do you do?:

A friend of yours also posts on the boards and posts something just skirting the rules. You check his admin notes and discover that he's been warned repeatedly about this same issue in the past. What is your response?:

A friend comes to you complaining that he has been banned by another moderator, and wants you to find out why. Upon further investigation, you discover that you believe the ban is unjustified. How do you handle that?:

You are checking the Contact Moderators thread and come across a post claiming that someone is posting personal attacks against him. You investigate and find that the post says "STFU, u noob!" Knowing that the Contact Moderators thread is for urgent issues only, what do you do? (Include the exact wording of any messages sent.):

You are checking the unban request queue and come across an angry unban request threatening legal action if you do not reinstate the banned account immediately. You find that the ban time has just expired. Please post your response:

What do you think your number 1 job as a mod is?

Do you use an Instant Messanger?
